X-37 - A Few More
|
June 23, 2005 - Here's a few more images that didn't make it to the first gallery. In the 3rd from the left, note that there's no mountains in the background...shows how steep a climbout the pair made. Far right: after touchdown, the Extra 300 flies close formation as Pete carefully brakes. Brake overheating with the heavy X-37 was a concern. |

According to an article in yesterday's Antelope Valley Press which quotes a DARPA spokesperson, the flight lasted 81 minutes and reached an altitude of 37,800 feet, and was deemed a success. The report says that "additional" captive carry flights will be performed at Mojave before three free-flights will be conducted, which will land at Edwards AFB. The program is expected to be completed by September 30. |
